Cherry Glazed Ham
1 8-10 lb. Swiss Meats Cherry Smoked Half Ham
whole cloves 1 3 oz. Jell-O cherry gelatin
½ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup boiling water
Preheat oven to 225 degrees. Remove ham from bag. Score ham with 2 inch diamond shapes across the side of the ham that has a layer of fat covering. Place 1 whole clove in center of each diamond score. Put ham in pan scored side up. Dissolve Jell-O Gelatin and sugar in boiling water. Pour about a third of the mixture over ham and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, basting every 15 minutes with mixture.
Note: To Glaze a Whole Bone-In Smoked Ham, use 1 (6oz.) Jell-O Cherry Gelatin, 1 cup brown sugar firmly packed, and 2 cups boiling water. Prepare as instructed above but cook for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Note: To Glaze a Smoked Ham Steak. Prepare the glaze as directed for Smoked Picnic Ham. Place the ham steak in a shallow baking dish, stick a few whole cloves in ham, and pour 1/2 of the glaze on and cover and bake in moderate oven (325 degrees) for 30 minutes basting every 15 minutes with the glaze.
