Nuremberg Meal

1 lb. Swiss Meat Nuremberg Bratwurst

1 can Beer

3 Tbsp. Freshly Grated Horseradish

3 Tbsp. Light Cream, whipped

1 tsp. Sugar

1 tsp. Salt

2 tsp. Lemon Juice

1 ¾ lbs. Drained Sauerkraut

2 tbsp. Bacon Grease

1 Onion, sliced

1 raw Potato, grated

1 Bay Leaf

½ cup Water

1 Tbsp. Sugar

Salt and Pepper to taste

Brush sausages with beer and fry or grill over low to medium heat until done. Mix horseradish, whipped cream, sugar, salt, and lemon juice. Chill. Melt bacon grease in heavy pot. Add onion and sauerkraut, stirring until lightly browned. Add potato, bay leaf, water, sugar and spices. Simmer about 45 minutes, until done. Remove the bay leaf. Serve the sausages, sauerkraut and horseradish sauce with thick slices of rye bread.
