Sweet Potato and Apple Casserole
6 to 8 Sweet Potatoes, peeled and sliced
6 to 8 Apples, peeled and sliced
½ cup Honey or Maple Syrup
½ cup Butter
¾ tsp. Salt
4 tbsp. Cornstarch
Mix 2 cups water with honey, salt and cornstarch and bring to a boil. Add butter and cook until mixture is thick. Grease casserole dish lightly with shortening and alternately layer with apples, potatoes, and sauce. Bake in 350° oven for 1 hour. Yields 8 servings.
